トリビア

• 1961年、ロンドンのPalace Theatreで「サウンド・オブ・ミュージック」の幕が開きました。当時13歳だったアンドリュー・ロイド＝ウェバーはリチャード・ロジャースにファンレターを書いたところ驚くべきことに直接返事をもらい、ウェバーはロンドン初日前夜のリハーサルと初日公演を客席で観劇するチャンスを得たというエピソードがある。ロンドン公演は6年間、計2,385回のロングランを経て1967年に閉幕した。（当時の英国演劇史上で最長の公演記録となったアメリカ作品でもある）
• 1938年のドイツ・オーストリア合邦によりオーストリア国内にドイツ軍の進駐がはじまる中、実在したトラップ大佐はドイツ海軍省からの指揮命令を拒否し、さらにはヒトラー50歳の誕生日パーティーへの合唱隊としての参加をも拒んだ。同じ頃、長男のルパートはウィーンの病院での役職をオファーされるが、これは多くのユダヤ人医師が解雇されたためだとトラップ大佐は気づく。緊張が高まる中、家族はオーストリア合邦の4カ月後にイタリアに移住をした。
• リチャード・ロジャースと娘のメアリー・ロジャースは、1960年のトニー賞最優秀ミュージカル作品賞にて、それぞれが作曲した作品「THE SOUND OF MUSIC」と「ONCE UP ON A MATTRESS」で競い合ったという逸話がある。
• 1959年、ニューヨークのLunt-Fontanne Theatreで「サウンド・オブ・ミュージック」の初演がスタート。その後、Mark Hellinger Theatreに移動、計1,443回のロングラン公演を経て1963年に閉幕した。
